Haridwar (Uttarakhand) [India], August 15 (ANI): On the occasion of the 78th year of Independence, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved MD Acharya Balakrishna hoisted the national flag at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar on Thursday.
While celebrating Independence Day along with children, Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna chanted the slogan ‘Vande Mataram’, and sang the national anthem.
Swami Ramdev remembered the sacrifices and the bravery of the freedom fighters of the country.

While talking to ANI Ramdev said, “we have got this independence just because of the bravery and sacrifices of more than five lakhs freedom fighters of our country”.
Ramdev talked about British rule and the financial exploitation that happened during the British period. Ramdev said that the Britishers, along with the East India Company, had looted more than a thousand crores from the nation.
“On this day of independence, we have pledged to bring financial independence in the country”, said Ramdev.
Earlier, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami after hosting the national flag, said that Uttarakhand will emerge as the best state in the country.
“From the land of Baba Kedar, for the first time, the Prime Minister said that the third decade of the 21st century will belong to Uttarakhand. Today, we have to take oath that in the next 10 years, Uttarakhand will emerge as the best state of the country, as a self-reliant, developed state.” CM Dhami said.
Addressing the public, CM Dhami announced a bunch of schemes to boost the state’s development. The schemes include developing one local body in each district as a model body, increasing the pension scheme account from Rs 4000 to Rs 6000, to connect youth with skill development schemes, and developing a welfare scheme for senior citizens.
