New Delhi [India], December 9 (ANI): After several schools in Delhi received bomb threats on Monday, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the securtiy situation in the national capital and said the people want to know, what measures are being taken for people’s safety.
Stating that providing security to the people of the national capital is his responsibility, the former Chief Minister asked Amit Shah whether anyone has been arrested till date.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Kejriwal highlighted that multiple bomb threats have been received in schools, hospitals, colleges, shopping malls and airports this year.
“The people of Delhi had never witnessed such incidents before this.On May 1, emails were received threatening to bomb more than 200 schools, after which the schools were evacuated. What effect do such threats have on the mental state of children? On May 12, eight hospitals and the airport received bomb threats, on May 24, several colleges of Delhi University received threats. On October 20, there was an explosion in Rohini and on November 28, there was a blast in Prashant Vihar,” he said.
“Amit Shah ji, the people of Delhi want to know from you as to what is being done for safety and security in Delhi. The responsibility of security is yours and you will have to provide it. So many threats are being received, Amit Shah should tell whether anyone has been arrested to date,” Kejriwal added.
Earlier today, over 40 schools in the national capital received bomb threats via e-mail and demanded a ransom of USD 30,000.
“I planted multiple bombs (lead azide, explosive compound used in detonators) inside the building. I planted multiple bombs inside the building. The bombs are small and hidden very well. It will not cause very much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate. You all deserve to suffer and lose limbs. If I do not receive USD 30,000, I will detonate the bombs,” the threat mail read.
Following this, Delhi Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi assured the security of the children and the school and said that the police would reach the source of the email soon and take action.
“Immediately after receiving the email, the police started their action. Police teams have reached all the places. We are ensuring the security of all the schools and the children and I would like to assure all the parents, and the people of Delhi that the police will make every possible effort to ensure the security of the children and the school and will ensure it. Along with this, we will reach the source of the email soon and take action,” Sanjay Tyagi said. (ANI)
