Gurugram (Haryana) [India], November 15 (ANI): Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday spoke on the journey of development India has taken through its history, saying that for a long time, India was considered a pioneer in various fields, but later on the environment problems also started arising in the country.
“If we talk since the 1 AD, till the 16th century, India has been a pioneer in all fields. We had already discovered a lot of things. We just stopped and hence began our downfall. Now look at farming itself, in India farming has been happening for the past 10,000 years but the problem of land, water, air being polluted was never there. But when farming from outside came, then these things happened in 500-600 years. So somewhere in the vision of India things were lacking, which is why development also happened unilaterally. In India development should be done holistically,” Bhagwat said in Gurugram.
Bhagwat inaugurated a conference titled ‘Vision for Viksit Bharat (VIVIBHA) 2024’ at SGT university in Gurugram today.
During his address he further highlighted that there is a debate between development and protecting the environment, however, it is about doing both of these things together instead.
“Nowadays the debate which happens is whether to do development or protect the environment, as if we need to choose one or the other. In the lives of humans, it is not about choosing one or the other but taking both of them together,” he added.
He said that just four per cent of people are looking to control 80 per cent of resources, claiming that this type of development has been pushed by ‘using the stick’ on people.
“The people who push for technological development, then you can see it is just 4 per cent of the population but they need 80 pc of the resources, and to get those resources then they want to use the stick on many people. For this type of development people have to work really hard and work with passion, but the fruits of those efforts are not reaped by many. To reinvigorate the passion, the stick should be used on their own people, these situations are seen all over,” he added. (ANI)
