Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 14 (ANI): Ahead of the 25th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, which is to be commemorated on July 26, the Indian Air Force (IAF) organised an air show at Air Force Station Sarsawa in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur to showcase human courage and skills.
The air show showcased movements by the Air Warrior Drill Team, the skydiving team, and impeccable formations of Rafale, Jaguar, and AN-32, said the IAF.

Taking to ‘X’, the IAF wrote, “In commemoration of 25 years of Kargil victory, #IAF organised an air show showcasing human courage and skill. Flawless movements by Air Warrior Drill Team followed by a daring display by sky diving team #AkashGanga, impeccable formations of Rafale, Jaguar, AN-32 and Dornier enthralled the spectators. A befitting finale was the low level aerobatic performance by the Su-30 MKI over the skies of Air Force Station Sarsawa.”

The Indian Air Force added that a ‘Missing Man’ formation and slithering Ops by Mi-17s was carried out to pay tribute to the fallen heroes of Kargil.

“A ‘Missing Man’ formation and slithering Ops by Mi-17s were carried out to pay tribute to the fallen heroes of Kargil. The event concluded with a stellar performance by the IAF Band and Indian Army Band”, said the IAF in a post on ‘X’.
Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26 in India, commemorates the victory of Operation Vijay in 1999. This event marks the conclusion of the Kargil War between India and Pakistan, which began in May 1999.
During this conflict, Indian forces successfully reclaimed strategic positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir that had been infiltrated by Pakistani soldiers and terrorists.
The day honours the courage of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in defence of the nation and celebrates the determination and strength of the Indian armed forces. Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a tribute to their sacrifices and reaffirms the nation’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and integrity.
The 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas will be celebrated with great enthusiasm this year on July 26 at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla.
This event is being organised with the support of the district administration, the Department of Soldier Welfare, and the Army, where homage will be paid to Kargil heroes.
Due to the possibility of bad weather, the event will be held at the Gaiety Theatre. Special parades and displays of weapons will also be organised on Ridge Maidan with the support of the Army. (ANI)
