Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 21 (ANI): On the occasion of Guru Purnima, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday paid respect to Balasaheb Thackeray and said that Maharashtra government is functioning in accordance with Balasaheb’s ideology.
He stated that Shivsena is carrying forward Balasaheb’s ideas and trying to do things as per expectations of Balasaheb Thackeray.
Addressing media persons, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “Today, on the occasion of Guru Purnima, we have come to pay respect to Balasaheb Thackeray, and every year, around lakhs of Shivsanik come to pay respect to him. This is a tradition spanning many years. Today, we are carrying forward his ideas, and with his blessing, we have our government in Maharashtra. We are trying to do things and make changes as per the expectations of Balasaheb Thackeray Ji which is why we started the projects that were stopped by Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). We initiated new projects, including Atal Setu, the Coastal Highway, and the Samriddhi Highway. We have started schemes for every section. This is what Balasaheb Thackeray wanted. This government is working on the ideas of Balasaheb Thackeray.”
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders took to X to extend greetings for the day. PM Modi shared his best wishes on X, expressing his greetings to all countrymen on this holy festival.
“Many best wishes to all the countrymen on the holy festival of Guru Purnima,” Modi said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his wishes, emphasising the crucial role of Gurus in society and national development.
“Gurus are the main carriers of the development of any society or nation. With the knowledge gained from years of penance, research, and experience, they take disciples from darkness to light and sow the seeds of character-building and patriotism in them. On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, I pay my tribute to all such Gurus and wish ‘Guru Purnima’ to all the countrymen,” Shah said.
Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, also extended his greetings, highlighting the special significance of Gurus in one’s life.
“Heartiest greetings of Guru Purnima to all the countrymen. Gurus hold a special importance in our lives. Respectful greetings to all the teachers. This day is an auspicious occasion for us to express our gratitude towards our Gurus, guides, and teachers. We wish that their guidance always illuminates our path and teaches us the right values of living life,” he said. (ANI)
