Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 9 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and MLA Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) has accused the Congress government in Telangana, led by Revanth Reddy, of dampening the festive spirit during Bathukamma and Dasara through its recent demolition drives.
“They’ve turned Musi into ‘museebat’ (trouble),” KTR remarked, referring to the ongoing demolitions in the state.
Speaking at an event where senior Congress leader Mohammed Alauddin Patel and hundreds of his followers from Serilingampally joined the BRS, KTR criticised the Congress government’s approach. He extended festive greetings to the people of Telangana but lamented the lack of a truly celebratory atmosphere.
“If KCR were the Chief Minister, farmers would have already received financial assistance, and women their Bathukamma sarees by now. This year, there’s no festive cheer. Instead, a climate of fear has been created with bulldozers,” KTR said.
He recounted an incident in Warangal, where locals mistook an official’s visit to a Bathukamma ghat for an attempt to demolish houses, underscoring the growing distrust among the public. “We thought only Uttar Pradesh had a ‘bulldozer CM,’ but now the Congress government in Telangana has adopted this culture too,” he added.
KTR accused the Congress of betraying public trust by failing to keep its promises. “People, frustrated with the current administration, are now remembering KCR’s governance,” he noted.
“Congress came to power with false promises, including the assurance of 2 lakh jobs and financial stability. But after 10 months in power, every sector is dissatisfied,” KTR said.
He further criticised the Congress for not delivering on its promised loan waiver. “Rahul Gandhi personally guaranteed a Rs 2 lakh loan waiver by December 9, on Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. But this promise remains unfulfilled, leaving farmers and the public disappointed,” KTR added.
He highlighted other unfulfilled promises, such as Rs 2,500 monthly aid for women under the Mahalakshmi scheme, 2 lakh jobs for the youth, and doubling pensions to Rs 4,000. “Congress even promised one tola of gold through the Shadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi schemes, but none of these have been delivered,” he pointed out, adding that auto drivers, who were promised financial assistance, have received nothing.
KTR accused the Congress of prioritising large projects like the Rs 1.50 lakh crore Musi Riverfront project over fulfilling its promises. “They are spending on the Musi project to earn commissions, while farmers are told to take their complaints to the Collector,” he remarked.
He urged the Congress to focus on helping the poor and delivering on its six major promises related to farmers, youth, women, and minorities.
KTR also referenced the Congress’s recent losses in Haryana, blaming the party for cheating people in Telangana, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh. He called for unity, emphasising the need to preserve the Ganga-Jamuna culture, where festivals like Bathukamma, Ramzan, and Christmas were celebrated peacefully. He assured that the BRS would continue fighting for secular values and coexistence.
Referring to his sister, MLC Kavitha’s imprisonment, KTR stated, “Despite her being jailed for five and a half months in a false case, we did not feel threatened.” He assured that the BRS would never indulge in religious politics or succumb to fear.
Former Home Minister Mahmood Ali, who also spoke at the event, praised the KCR government for its efforts towards minority welfare over the past decade. He recalled the establishment of over 200 residential schools for minorities under KCR’s leadership, which have since been neglected by the Congress government.
BRS senior leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail claimed that thousands of Congress workers were ready to switch allegiance. He accused the Congress government of promoting communal violence, citing over 20 incidents of unrest, including the Jainoor riots, during its 10-month rule. Sohail alleged that Congress had been targeting minority businesses and falsely implicating innocent Muslim youth in criminal cases. He vowed that the BRS would soon expose the Congress’s communal agenda. (ANI)
