Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 15 (ANI): Thirty pilgrims from Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore district who had been stranded in Uttarakhand’s Pithorgarah due to a landslide, have been evacuated safely, said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s office on Sunday.
“Hearing the news of the standard pilgrimage, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin ordered officials to take action and Tamil Nadu higher officials had a word with Utharkhand officials. Cuddalore District administration communicated to Pithorgarah District administration and inspected the rescue operation,” said the official release from the CM’s office.
Uttarakhand government have conveyed the message that all 30 were rescued to a safe camp house in Dharchula. There are 17 women among the pilgrims. They were stranded on the Badrinath National Highway.
The Chief Minister spoke with one of the stranded pilgrims and assured them of all help.
“We are taking all measures to rescue the Tamils trapped in landslides in Uttarakhand. We are doing all the help for the affected people to return to their hometowns safely.” tweeted CM MK Stalin earlier in the day.
They left for Adi Kailash in Uttarakhand on September 1 through a private travel agency. (ANI)
